Should you stay in fat burning workout or a more vigorous cardio if you are trying to lose belly fat?

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Fat burning workout is usually around 60% of your peak heart rate while cardio is about 80%. You would think that a more vigorous workout (cardio) would be better for trying to burn fat but is it really?

I’ve been told many times that cardio is the best. As soon as it gets warm enough for me to get outdoors with my infant then I’ll be working on cardio. It gets your blood pumping and you’re ready to move and get things done.I’ve found that when I’m doing cardio then I feel more excited about the exercise and my goal.

What diets have actually worked for you?

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

I’m a firm believer in not just dieting but creating a healthy lifestyle, something that a person can stick to. With that being said, what diets have worked for you? Have you stuck to them and made them apart of your lifestyle or did you just diet short term?

I think I’ve tried to lose weight with all sorts of diets such as the soup diet and shakes, and also eating under a dangerous 600 calories or skipping meals which was all out of desperation. I finally took the time to feed some knowledge into my head on healthy eating and excercising and soon realised that commitment was all that it took to make ones success. I cut out late night snacking and watched my food portions. It depends on every individual and their obstacles.

I lost over 35 lbs from including lots of physical activity into my daily routines and watching what I put in my mouth. Now and again I will eat at fast food places or treat myself to ice cream but it’s not as much as I used to before. Today I’m still kicking near a 40 lb loss and plan to practice healthy eating and excercise for the rest of my life… or else it wouldn’t be a ‘lifestyle change’ :)

How can I gain weight? What foods are best to eat for weight gain?

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

I’m 110lbs, 5′4" and I need to gain some weight.

Anyone have any "home remedies" or suggestions that can help me put on a few pounds?

You know how movie stars put on pounds when they have to do a movie? How do they do it?

Anyone know a similar way?

Eat McDonalds.

What is a good way to lose weight for teens?

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

I want to lose some weight. I am 13 and I really want to lose like 10 pounds. I am not that active so I know if I just get outside and run around it will help. But how do I like get abs and stuff? And like get rid of extra fat?

Well the obvious would be to exercise and eat healthy, which I really do recommend. The more muscle you have, the faster your metabolism and the more calories you burn by even doing nothing! Go out for a jog, do some crunches, but make sure you keep it consistent. Set a specific and realistic goal or yourself. Also, make an effort to eat more fruits and vegetables and cut out extra fats and sugars. I promise you this is the most effective way. Plus, by having a healthy routine now, you are more likely to have a great body when you are older!

And please, don’t go on a diet/starve yourself hun!
It won’t work.
Good luck girl!

The Trim Advantage system is the best I know of.

This kit delivers, with complete support for your first 30 days on the Trim Body System Protein Plus Diet. The kit includes a binder to hold the print materials, which include the Quick Start Guide, a 12-page booklet that introduces you to the plan. It also includes Meal Plan Cards that step you through every meal for 30 days, including shopping tips, meal preparation, supplements, and recipes. Eighteen detailed, full-colour Recipe Cards show you how to fix simple, healthy meals, fast. And a week’s worth of 10-minute exercises are described on the Fitness Cards, so you can take your exercise plan with you, wherever you go.

In the kit is a 2-DVD set that features a physician discussing the health effects of being overweight, a fitness expert who introduces you to and coaches you through all the exercises in the 4-3-2-1 Body Training System, and an introduction to the Protein Plus Diet. The kit also includes Nutrilite and Mekiwin weight-loss support supplements and protein powder and Trim Advantage protein bars and meal replacement shake mix.

The Trim Body System is designed to encourage the kinds of changes in lifestyle that may result in lifelong weight loss. Medical authorities recommend a weight loss of no more than 2-3 pounds a week to reduce the health risks associated with more rapid weight loss.

*The Protein Plus Diet was developed by The Better Life InstituteTM and approved by the Nutrilite Health Institute.

What are some easy ways to lose weight?

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

I’m looking for ways to lose weight over the summer so I have a good start to the new school year come fall. I don’t care if you give me good ways to exercise, eat healthier, or something else. Please help!

Weight loss is an overall process and there are no magic answers. Pay no attention to weight loss supplements and pills and all the latest fads. You need to think about many factors but most of them are related to issues we’ve known about for a very long time. There are many sensible things you can do that will make a tremendous difference over the long term if you need to lose weight. It can be done in a healthy way. This is what has worked for me.

Keeping a food journal really does help. It will give you a much better sense of how much you are eating, and when, and why.

Make a few additional small changes – walk everywhere, always use stairs instead of elevators, walk on escalators, get up and move around at least once an hour if your work or your life in general is sedentary, walk every day, use a pedometer. Walking 10,000 steps a day is a really good idea. Build up to a long brisk walk everyday, or most days. Be more active and watch less TV and spend less time on the computer. Buy one piece of exercise equipment to have at home and be strict with yourself about using it. Sometimes you can find mini-steppers or exercise bikes at second hand stores and thrift stores for just a few dollars.

Start a weight lifting routine. Join a gym. Possibly you can find one that has someone who specializes in weight lifting programs for beginners. Weight lifting will increase your metabolism as well as improve posture and appearance overall. Even if you can’t get to the gym you can work out at home using things around the house. Invest in a good weight training book. The Dummies series actually has a good one.

In terms of diet, cut out or reduce things like junk food, pop, fat, fast food. Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meat, fish. Particularly if you choose a vegetarian lifestyle include natural peanut butter, hummus, dried fruit and nuts. Pay close attention to getting the nutrients your body needs to be healthy.

Make your portion sizes smaller. Use a smaller plate – in our society we have become accustomed to thinking that we need a large plate of food at every meal, and we don’t. About quarter of your plate of food should be protein and at least half of it should be veggies.

Learn to count calories. At your current weight and activity level, you may possibly need about 2000 calories or more to maintain your current weight. So you will lose weight at a reasonable and healthy rate if you cut back to about 1600 or 1700 calories a day.

Eat small amounts frequently, rather than three large meals. Never skip breakfast. Include some protein in your breakfast. It will help get you through the day.

Drink plenty of water, at least 8 big glasses of water a day, and more if it is very hot, if you sweat a lot, or if you are exercising intensely, and eliminate fruit juices. Fruit juices have too many calories, so get your vitamins from fresh fruit, not the juice. You will begin to see changes in your body.

Vary your routines. Don’t eat the same number of calories every day (vary your calories from 1400 a day to 1900 or 2000 some days), eat a variety of foods, and do different kinds and amounts of exercise. You will lose weight much more efficiently if you mix things up from time to time so that your body doesn’t adjust to any one routine.

An area that many people overlook is getting enough sleep. You are much more likely to overeat or to binge eat if you are tired and not well rested, so get enough sleep.

What is the quickest way to lose weight and get your mind off of food?

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Ok I weight 220 pounds and im 5′9 – 5′10ish and I would like to lose weight the quickest way I possibly can, but without damaging my health. I need a couple pointers on how I can loose this weight.

Count calories and fat. Limit to a 1,000 calorie or 30 gram of fat diet a day and you will lose weight without exercise. I lost 30 ponds in 3 months! Exercise helps too! Its so simple its just crazy. Also limit portion sizes and that will help a lot.

As for keeping your mind off food, after a couple weeks of a diet like this it gets much easier. When you are used to being able to eat whatever you want whenever you want it is hard to break that habit. Be sure to treat yourself to one meal a week with whatever you want though to stay sane…

Does low intensity work for fat burning?

Monday, January 25th, 2010

I hear low intensity is good for fat burning, but high intensity intervals burns less fat but more total calories all up, now i dont need to lose weight, i just need to burn off some access fat. So if low intensity is aimed at more fat burning would it be better as apposed to high intensity which burns more total calories which would be used morely for weight loss, not fat loss?
Thanks.

Either or both will work. You are ALWAYS using a mix of fat and carbohydrate as fuel.

Most athletes use a combination of high and low intensity in their training.

Obviously, you have to go for longer periods of time at low intensity to burn the same number of calories.

See below for way more than you wanted to know about fat metabolism.

What are some good diets and diet plans for a fifteen year old girl?

Monday, January 25th, 2010

I’m looking for a healthy diet.
I’m not one of those girls who’s really obsessed with my wieght.
I just would like to tone my body and get in shape for the summer.
So i’m about 5′4" and 140lbs.
So can someone help me out with some HEALTHY diets and diet plans (:
please and thank you !

whoa, time to lose a bit right! I would say you could have a protein shake at dinner, and then regular meals (but at half the size) at breakfast and lunch. For snacks only eat fruit.
