Best natural ways to lose weight?

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

I don’t want to have to get an expensive gym membership because I clearly cannot afford it. I want to lose weight for my Graduation, and I want to know some suggestions for good weight loss. Which is better? Running or walking? Cut out junkfood completely? Healthy food (aka veggies, fruits, etc)

Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

I’m 17, and 174 lbs. I really need some answers. I want to be at a healthy weight for the first time in my life.

Weight loss is an overall process. You need to think about many factors. There are many sensible things you can do that will make a tremendous difference over the long term if you need to lose weight. It can be done in a healthy way. This is what has worked for me.

Keeping a food journal really does help. It will give you a much better sense of how much you are eating, and when, and why.

Make a few additional small changes – walk everywhere, always use stairs instead of elevators, walk on escalators, get up and move around at least once an hour if your work or your life in general is sedentary, walk every day, use a pedometer. Walking 10,000 steps a day is a really good idea. Build up to a long brisk walk everyday, or most days. Be more active and watch less TV and spend less time on the computer. Buy one piece of exercise equipment to have at home and be strict with yourself about using it. Sometimes you can find mini-steppers or exercise bikes at second hand stores and thrift stores for just a few dollars.

Start a weight lifting routine. Join a gym. Possibly you can find one that has someone who specializes in weight lifting programs for beginners. Weight lifting will increase your metabolism as well as improve posture and appearance overall. Even if you can’t get to the gym you can work out at home using things around the house. Invest in a good weight training book. The Dummies series actually has a good one.

In terms of diet, cut out or reduce things like junk food, pop, fat, fast food. Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meat, fish. Particularly if you choose a vegetarian lifestyle include natural peanut butter, hummus, dried fruit and nuts. Pay close attention to getting the nutrients your body needs to be healthy.

Make your portion sizes smaller. Use a smaller plate – in our society we have become accustomed to thinking that we need a large plate of food at every meal, and we don’t. About quarter of your plate of food should be protein and at least half of it should be veggies.

Learn to count calories. At your current weight and activity level, you may possibly need about 2000 calories or more to maintain your current weight. So you will lose weight at a reasonable and healthy rate if you cut back to about 1600 or 1700 calories a day.

Eat small amounts frequently, rather than three large meals. Never skip breakfast. Include some protein in your breakfast. It will help get you through the day.

Drink plenty of water, at least 8 big glasses of water a day, and more if it is very hot, if you sweat a lot, or if you are exercising intensely, and eliminate fruit juices. Fruit juices have too many calories, so get your vitamins from fresh fruit, not the juice. You will begin to see changes in your body.

An area that many people overlook is getting enough sleep. You are much more likely to overeat or to binge eat if you are tired and not well rested, so get enough sleep.

what are the best ways to lose weight without doing the diet meals and other things?

i want to lose weight but don’t want to keep on buying diet meals and i do excercise it’s just not working!!!

The *Only* way to lose weight is to consistently supply your body with less calories (through diet and exercise) than it needs to function on a daily basis. A trainer at a local gym, a doctor, or a nutritionist can calculate this number for you (it depends on a number of factors- age, height, weight, activity level).

There are 3500 calories in 1lb of fat. Since most people’s daily caloric needs are far less than 3500 calories, you will need to cut this from your diet in a gradual way- say, 300-500 calories less per day, without dipping below 1200 calories. For example, let’s say it is determined that you need 2500 calories a day just to maintain your current weight (see above). To lose weight, you would need to consume 2000 calories a day. Your body will need to get that 500 calories from someplace- and it will get it from burning your body fat. Let’s say you do this for 7 days….you will have lost 1lb (500 calories x 7 days= 3500 calories).

What are the best ways to lose weight naturally?

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

Okay, well…lately I have been really letting my weight get to me. I have tried to view myself as a great person no matter what, but I still seem to feel sad about it. I’m 15, about 5 foot 2, female, and my weight is somewhere around 185 pounds. I have heavy bones so I don’t exactly look like 185 pounds…I probably look more like 170, but none the less I am still obese. I really don’t eat much sugar. Within the last month or so I have been trying to stick to 10 grams of sugar or less a day, and exercised maybe a half an hour a day (better than nothing I guess) which I thought was a good way to start, but I haven’t seen any results and I am resenting all of this extra baggage because I would really like to be able to fit back into the juniors section of clothes, and I don’t want to get diabetes or be at risk for medical conditions any more. Any advice would be very appreciated :)

I heard the Tequila Diet is one of the best ways to lose weight. Any good mix ideas?

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

My friends have lost a lot of weight by drinking 6 shots throughout the day of Tequila and also eating just once a day (high-protein).

I like Tequila, but want to know what Tequila mixes might spice up this diet.

Thank you for helping me lose the pounds.

Yeah, this diet is great if you need to lose weight quickly to fit into a smaller dress or pant size, etc. for a social event such as a dance, etc.

Here is a great mix that I make when my friends and I party at my house:

2 oz apple schnapps
2 oz Jose Cuervo® Especial gold tequila
1/2 oz daiquiri mix
fill with 7-Up® soda
ice cubes

Mix apple schnapps, gold tequila and daiquiri mix in a collins glass filled with ice. Fill to the top with 7-up.

What is the best way to lose weight?

I was just wondering what would the best way to lose weight without going to the gym. because i cant go to the gym. Also i have been eating Special K for breakfast and Lean Cuisine for dinner. I have been doing crunches, sit ups and push ups. And would age be my problem because i am 14 soon turning 15 soon, and i was hoping to have at least to have some kind of six pack. PLEASE HELP!

1 Dietary Balance and reading labels: watch what you eat, and expend more energy than you consume. It’s really that simple. This involves some calculation. Eat less and eat at least five meals a day. Your actual caloric requirement can differ depending on your height, weight, activity level and your body’s metabolic rate.

2 Identify your exercise. No exercise was created equal. You might like running, so run. You might like jogging, so jog. You might like stationary bikes, so bike stationary. Find the one that works best for you. Don’t pick a routine that you don’t like and won’t stick with it for long.

3 Try yoga. Yoga is one of the best ways of losing weight. Of course I can’t go into a full lecture about yoga over here but I can tell you that I have never seen people with better-toned bodies than those who practice yoga. One of the benefits of yoga is that you learn to control virtually every muscle and joint of your body so that the issue of weight gain will cease to exist.

4 Photos and Joining online support group : Take before and after photos. There’s no easier way to illustrate your progress. It’s essential that you not feel alone, and reaching out to friends helps as they know things that you couldn’t possibly know, and they’ve probably been “in your shoes” at some point in the past (or present). Share stories, laughter, tears, successes, and failures. There are thousands of communities out there, so keep looking until you find one that fits you.

5 Water you waiting for If you’re not drinking enough water, your body will let you know. Thirst is an amazing sensation – quench it. If you’re not hydrated, your body won’t be working at peak levels. If you’re worried about “water weight,” remember that you’re likely to retain more water when you’re not giving your body enough of it in the first place. I’m not going to dictate how many glasses you should drink, though – as that’s going to vary from person to person.

6 Zone out. There’s a reason why people exercise to their favorite music – listening to external stimulus takes your mind off of the physical activity making “exercise time” fly or situate yourself in front of TV or video games involving exercises.

7 Dance Out Do Salsa, tango, swing ,hip-hop dancing etc. Anyone can do it,keep in mind you are dancing to increase your physical activity, so there is no pressure on how well you perform dance. Who knows you might even learn a cool dance move or two

8 Sleep it off. To be an efficient fat-burning machine, If you think that you’re doing yourself a favor by sleeping less, you’re mistaken. Give your body time to rest itself, both mentally and physically. Sleep is very, very important.

9 Keep a food diary. All you have to do is jot down what, when, and how much you eat in a notebook, or you can do it online at a Web site . A food diary gives a clear picture of your current eating habits so you can identify the changes you need to make to lose weight.

10 Be motivated. You need to believe in yourself!. Learn to evaluate your efforts fairly and objectively. When you have thought of giving up, visualize how good you will look when you manage to slim down successfully.

Best way to lose weight if you are not worried about your heath?

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

So i know people always answer with teh SAFE and HEALTHY way, but i’m asking for the ways that are fad diets or not good for you, but WORK. Even if it is just for a short time and you’ll gain the weight back.. what has worked for you?

If you don’t care about your health just don’t eat any more, that’ll lose you weight. You will just "deflate".
What works for me is swimming about 100 pool lengths every 2 days.

I find that drinking water helps a lot in shedding weight. It isn’t so much the water but the lack of sugar that’s in drinks that does it.
I also walk whenever I can. Walking is very good for losing weight, so is eating less,.. Try it.

What is one of the best diet plans, or best ways to lose weight?

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

best way to exercise? cut calories or carbs? so on…

*Sigh* It’s always the same thing with these questions… the truth be told, that whole carb BS is just BS, theres so much more to it then that.

Usually what you want to do is INCREASE your caloric intake and increase the amount of times you eat daily (usually 5 – 7 times) but convert to totally clean, low fat, unprocessed foods… using this method will melt fat off of you faster then getting liposuction.

Go to my profile and click on my answers and click on any question that I’ve answered that has to do with diet and losing weight and find my answers in there and read them… all in all it will take you about 10 or 15 minutes of your time and you will learn so much about how to properly and quickly lose weight that stays off… I always explain things in easy to understand ways so anyone with no knowledge of proper nutrition can learn easily.

I’m 13 and I need to know the best ways to lose weight. Please detailed answers only!?

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

I’m about 152cm (5"9) and I estimated 90 kilos (198 pounds) without a scale. I really want to lose this weight, it’s that I can’t stop eating, but I am willing to try if I find the right ways to lose the weight!

Also, please, sport is an obvious answer so please do not suggest that.

Hi, Jay, good for you for wanting to lose weight and get healthy! The website below has a section called "weight loss for teens" that will give you all the information you need to take off some weight fairly quickly without ruining your health.

It sounds like your biggest problem though is the motivation to lose weight. You want to but you don’t really want to do what you need to do to make it happen. Is that right? I’ve sure been there myself! There’s a couple of things I’d recommend. First of all, think about the difference between "interested" in losing weight and being "committed" to losing weight. It’s a huge difference. You can read about it on the "motivation" section of the website. I would also suggest that you start keeping a journal. Write what you eat and your activity but also write your feelings. What’s going on when you want to eat so much. Are you bored, upset, etc. Another thing you could try is to make a few goals such as, "I will eat three healthy meals a day and two healthy snacks." Notice it doesn’t say how much you’ll eat at one time. Maybe if you start "small" and add more goals as you go along, you won’t feel so deprived all at once. For example, two weeks later, you could change that goal to, "I will eat three healthy meals a day of no more than 400 calories each and two healthy snacks of no more than 100 calories each." Finally, I would suggest that you might want to try a short-term diet designed for quick weight loss. There are several available on the website under "diet plans". These are designed for two weeks max. The 5-4-3-2-1 diet is my favorite. You can MAKE yourself do anything for two weeks–just power through. After you lose some initial weight pretty quickly, I think you’ll find then that you’ll be motivated to keep going on something that is not quite so drastic. The "eat healthy" section describes how you should eat long-term. Good luck!
