What are the best excercise machines/duration of time for burning fat?

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

It seems like I’m not working hard enough while doing "fat burning" levels on the stairmaster, elliptical, or treadmill but I don’t want to over do it either. Any trainers out there got any advice concerning optimum fat burning excercises and the duration thereof?

Like you, I was doing TONS of cardio and not seeing any results. I got a trainer for a few months, and she used the Turbulence Training methods. It has been great for loosing fat without a butt load of cardio. She says that by doing some weight training, your developing muscles can actually burn more calories/fat at rest than all the cardio stuff.

It’s working great so far, in the 2 months I’ve been training with it I’ve lost about 23 pounds. Good luck to you!!

what is the secret of the fat burning furnace?

Monday, March 15th, 2010

FBF (fat burning furnace) is something i heard about but u have to buy the book to c wat it is and i dont have any money so i was wondering if anyone knew bout it.

The core idea behind Fat Burning Furnace is doing High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). This isn’t a new idea, but FBF takes it to a whole new level and helps get you the most results for the minimum amount of time.

The basic idea behind HIIT is to push your body to it’s limit with just a few intense reps. This breaks down your muscles, and as they rebuild themselves, they burn away a lot of calories and eat up all your fat deposits. It’s really quite effective.

FBF gives you few different HIIT workouts that you can use based on your fitness level and whether or not you have access to a gym, so it’s not a one-size-fits-all workout program.

There is also a diet portion of the program that helps you fuel your body and complements the exercises. It goes into a lot of detail with portion sizes and amounts and such. I’ve never really been into all that. The diet part is okay, but the real magic is in the HIIT exercises. As long as you eat a healthy diet and do the HIIT you should get good results.

How do I make sure I’m burning the most fat I can when working out?

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

I know about mixing it up…

And what about certain weight lifting exercises? How much is too much weight lifting?

Is it better to workout in the morning? What’s the best thing to eat for breakfast? I hate running, what are some other excellent fat burning activities I can do without a machine?

I want to teach my body to be a fat burning machine* :) Thanks to anyone who has knowlege on the subject.

We don’t burn fat while lifting weights. We burn glucose. High intensity cardio also uses glucose as fuel. We burn fat while doing low intensity cardio (under 130 beats per min).

The best thing you can do to make your body a fat burning machine is to manipulate your diet to put your body in the best position to use fat during the other 23 hours of the day. NOT the hour of exercise.

You do this by upping your proteins & fats (this will ensure you maintain your muscle) and lowering your carbs. The less carbs you eat the less glucose in your system.

If you are really overweight you should only have protein& fat meals during the day. All week.

If you are not that overweight you can have carbs around your workout but protein & fats every other meal. This will also keep your blood sugar level constant throughout the day. A good thing.

I can’t recommend how much to you because you don’t give your current weight and goal weight.

Jogging is high intensity so you could get by by doing stationary bike. Or Burpees for conditioning/cardio.

If you have any questions just ask. Good luck!

What’s the difference between cardio workout and fat burning? I thought they were the same.?

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Also do cardio and fat burning both fall into aerobic excercise and not anaerobic? I think anaerobic is weight training, correct?

The intent of both is somewhat same that is to burn calories. But fat burning is solely intended towards loosing weight by sheding those extra fats on the other hand cardio workout could be intented towards improving stamina, improving flexibility or may be towards general fittness.Well you may also say fat burning is a more intense form of cardio.
Well yes both are a form of aerobics .Anaerobics is intense training using weights that is done to increase lean mass or build strength.

Do protein powders burn fat or are there fat burning powders out there, if so can you name some?

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

I’m trying to get a tasteless fat burning powder to add to shakes and smoothies. On my internet search, all I seem to see are protein powders.

I found a burner protein, I think the company is called Nutriblendz or something like that. They do have a burner protein that is pretty yummy. Hope this helps.

What is the best way to calculate the Heart Rate range for Fat Burning?

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

The information I’ve been reading recently indicates that in order to burn fat most efficiently, one should keep the heart rate at a lower level than for cardio exercise. The calculation I’ve got is 220 minus the age (33) multiplied by 55% and 65% to give the appropriate range for optimal fat burning. This gives me a range of 103 to 122 bpm. That seems low. Does anybody know whether this is correct or if there is another, more exact calculation?

You heart rate should fall between 60 to 80%. That would put you between 112 to 149 bpm.

Should you be able to feel stomach fat burning while running?

Friday, March 5th, 2010

I run/walk on the treadmill, and am trying to lose some fat on my stomach. While running, should I be able to feel fat burning or anything? Or should it just feel normal?

no you shouldnt be able to really feel it, probably because running is not an exercise focussed on the stomach area (although dont stop, as it is a great one for your heart and other muscles). sit ups or crunches are a more effective way of targeting that area, you could try doing them on a fit ball (exercise ball) because then you can go further than 90 degrees down as you build up greater strength. make sure you use your core instead of straining your neck and back. good luck!

Should I be doing low intensity fat burning or high intensity cardio exercises?

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

I want to lose about 60lbs of fat, should I be doing low intensity fat burning or high intensity cardio exercises? Also, I don’t want to put on too much muscle being that I am a female, are there any muscle exercises that will increase metabolism but not too much musle size. Thank you!

you can do both.

however, long, slow, low-intensity cardio is generally overrated. the amount of fat you burn during a long, slow workout is usually very low, and most people simply get hungrier and overeat. high-intensity cardio, like sprint intervals, raises post-exercise oxygen consumption, meaning it burns fat throughout the whole day even after you stop your workout.

heavy weightlifting, like squats, deadlifts, and bench presses, helps you retain muscle so you lose fat and not muscle mass, and it also increases your metabolism. (lots of light "toning" exercises actually do make your muscles bigger without making them stronger or burning calories.)

whether or not you put on muscle is determined by a) your hormones, b) your diet, and c) what you do in the weight room. note that weightlifting is the LEAST important aspect of it. since you are female and therefore have low testosterone, you CANNOT gain lots of muscle unless you take steroids and forcefeed yourself protein and calories.

stop worrying about it. try the sample routine below. weightlifting will help you shed pounds.

Whats the difference between the cardio and the fat burning heart rate zone?

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

on the eliptical it has the heart range zone but i want to be in the fat burning one i think and i can never get my heartrate lower then 148-155 without stopping

cardio zone is for building stamina rather than burn fat, so it focuses more on getting your heart rate up that burining calories, fat burn, made specifically to burn fat.
