How common is weight gain on NuvaRing?

I went on NuvaRing a few months ago. I’m fairly certain it is the reason I have gained a few pounds. I am wondering if water weight will go away once your body is used to the contraceptive? I’ve heard a lot about weight gain on many kinds of contraceptives, but nothing about whether or not the gained weight will stay. Of course diet and exercise can help (along with drinking plenty of fluids), but is there anything else you can do to get rid of water weight?

So far, that is the only complaint I have about NuvaRing. I HATE gaining weight.

The water weight most likely wont go when your body gets used to the NuvaRing. The weight you gain will stay there with or without the contraceptive in place.
There is very little you can do to get rid of the fluid you are retaining at the moment, as the NuvaRing doesnt have the ability to generate fluid loss from your body, it only acts as a local contraceptive. There is a pill out at the moment which doesnt cause people to put on weight nor retain fluid.

How soon do you gain weight after stop smoking?

It’s really hard for me to gain weight and im quitting smoking so its going to help me gain. I was wondering how long after you stop smoking do you start to gain weight. Im one of the few that looks forward to the weight gain lol. Thanks in advance.

I’m actually in the same boat as you, quitting smoking to help weight gain an improve health.

You can actually see some ‘weight gain’ pretty much the day after you quit smoking as your appetite comes back. This weight is of course simply the weight of the extra food you wouldn’t normally have eaten. Of course, your metabolism will slow down when you quit smoking which will lead to long term weight gain if food intake and exercise isn’t watched closely.

I’ve gotten myself down to only smoking one cigarette each day for the past week, and my weight has been fluxuating due to food intake but right now I’m about four pounds heavier.

I work out in the gym and all I do is tone my muscles, there is no weight gain. Someone give me som good advice. How can I prevent weight gain from birth control pills?

I just started taking birth control pills. I haven’t changed my diet or exercised any less, but I still feel a noticeable bloating. How can I prevent weight gain from the pills. I already eat healthily and exercise, which are the obvious suggestions to prevent weight gain. Is there a certain vitamin or anything I can be taking to offset what the pills do weight wise? What about the pill causes weight gain, anyway?

No, it’s just water weight and it will go away in a few months once you get used to it. It’s not permanent weight gain. Drink lots of fluid and stay away from high sodium.

How can I gain weight as fast as I can between now and the start of fall? Also what should I eat ?

in other words, do you gain weight because you are just more tired on an anti-depressant and therefore less willing to work out? or, is there something in the drug that chemically causes you to gain weight?

I take Wellbutrin SR (150 mg) in the morning, and Lexapro (10 mg) in the evening, for depression and anxiety. I’ve been taking that for over two years, and it’s working very well for me.

The Wellbutrin SR seems to help me to be more alert and active – and wanting to do things – while the Lexapro makes me more mellow, and it helps me sleep better, too. They are relatively low doses of each medication, which keeps side effects at a minimum. I really can’t tell I’m taking any medication at all.

I have to think it’s because of the tiredness / drowsiness of the SSRI medication. It makes you want to not do much, just sit around and play on the internet or watch TV. The Wellbutrin SR that I take helps with that, it’s kind of a "pick-me-up" and helps get me going.

My husband is 23, 6 foot and around 10 stone. He would like to put on weight for his self confidence but he hasn’t got time to go to the gym because he works long hours and we have a 10 month old boy. Our house isn’t big enough for gym equipment but are there ways for him to put on weight aside from eating lots of crap? Would lifting small weights (dumbbells) at home plus using weight gain shakes work? If so what would be the best way? Thank you.

Healthy fats include omega-3 essential fatty acids sources like tuna, salmon, flax, and walnuts. Good sources of protein include lean meats, fish, poultry, nuts, seeds and legumes. Healthy carbohydrate sources include fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

It may be easier to eat five or six smaller balanced meals per day rather than eating three large meals, especially if you are not used to eating much at one sitting.

Protein powders and nutritional supplement drinks such as Ensure (buy direct) can be added as in-between meal snacks if you still need more calories. Some protein powders are flavored and only need added water and some others can be blended with your choice of juice or milk to improve the taste.

It would also be a healthy idea to add a small amount of flax seed oil and some psyllium powder to add some omega-3 essential fatty acids and extra fiber.

I have been on the depo provera for nearly 5 years and I haven’t noticed any unusual weight gain… Should I expect to gain weight if I stay on it? What about if I go off the depo? Will I gain weight then? Also, I haven’t had a period for this time. Is this going to do any long-term damage to my reproductive system?

I was on the depo for a few years and didn’t have a period, when I got off it my periods came back. I gained a lot of weight on it though, like 25 pounds. I went from 120 to 145 and then kept gaining weight on it so I got off it. When I got off it I was able to lose the weight with a lot of exercise. It causes bone marrowing too, its not good for your health in the long run, and their is no physical need to have a period but it’s good to have one because it cleans your system out. I like having mine and for some people it’s a sign of reassurance. I’d get off it and use the female condom or regular condom. It’s safer.

I have a peruvian paso thats is far from an easy keeper in the eating department.Does anyone out there knows of anything to put on weight?Im doing beat pulp pellets with water.I dont see a differnce its a couple months now.Is tere anything out there to make a horse hungry?I weigh my flakes.I give her 6lbs.& doesnt finish.Need advice asap.Thx.

Have you tried calf manna? I remember, many years ago, we had a horse that needed to put on some weight, and our vet told us to give him calf manna. Worked like a charm for that horse…don’t know if it would work for yours. Ask your vet before starting any new supplement. Also, make sure that the problem isn’t worms. Have the vet tube the horse, rather than using the commercially available products. Also, have the vet give the horse a good exam, to make sure there are no underlying problems that are preventing the horse from gaining weight.
